For practitioners who want to create thoughtful, person-centred care
—not simply add another treatment to a menu, and go beyond a sequence of techniques.
Developed through real client care at K’s Japanese Head Spa in Cairns.
01 · WHY LEARN WITH US
Created by Japanese practitioner Keiko Murphy and refined through more than 3,000 treatment sessions in Cairns, the Zero Point approach carries Japanese perspectives into touch, timing, space and the complete client journey.
Japanese perspectives:
Harmony, ma, attentiveness and ichigo ichie are translated into practical decisions about touch, timing, space and care.
Being before Doing:
Learning begins with the practitioner’s presence, intention and responsibility—before practical technique.
The whole client journey:
The welcome, consultation, transitions, use of space and silence, hands-on treatment and final farewell are considered as one coherent experience.

05 · THE PERSON SHARING THE WORK
Born and raised in Tokyo, K has lived in Cairns since 1993. Before opening K’s, she spent many years connecting Cairns and Japan through publishing, media coordination, events, design, retail and tours.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, her long-held wish to share something meaningful from Japan in Australia became one of the reasons she created K’s Japanese Head Spa. Her own experience of receiving gentle touch to the head during a difficult period also shaped the direction of her work.
Her continuing practice and study of tea ceremony, Koshintō and iaidō deepen her understanding of Japanese aesthetics, presence and discipline.
Since opening in 2021, K’s has grown almost entirely through word of mouth. Without paid advertising, appointments are frequently booked well in advance and the salon maintains an ongoing cancellation waitlist.
Through the Academy, K shares this work privately—keeping the learning close, responsive and grounded in each practitioner’s own setting.
“We do not teach technique alone.
We cultivate the quality of presence that gives touch its meaning.
When touch changes, the human encounter changes.
And the world becomes a little more peaceful.
06 · BEYOND THE TRAINING
Over time, we hope to connect independent practitioners who share this approach to presence, care and respectful touch—each creating an oasis of calm and care in their own community, while remaining free to shape their own practice.
As the Academy grows, a professional network, public directory and optional practice mentoring may be developed. The details will be considered carefully over time.
